Shrink Wrap Recycling Program
through cooperation from the Marine Trades Association of Maryland, the Maryland Clean Marina Program, The Chesapeake Bay Trust

And through support from Anne Arundel County Waste Management, Mid-shore Recycling and Cecil County Waste Management

How to Prepare Your Boat Shrink Wrap to be Recycled:

  1. Please remove all doors, zippers, vents, rope, and ribbon strapping (belly bands), and other non-shrink wrap materials from your boat. You may be able to save the doors and vents for use next year. If you cannot reuse this removed material you should dispose of it with the regular trash.

  2. Try to keep the shrink wrap as clean as possible – gravel and sand make the recycling process more difficult. Perhaps you can use one of the marina carts to help keep the shrink wrap clean.

  3. To maximize the amount of shrink wrap that will fit in the dumpster, it would help if you roll the shrink wrap into a bundle up to 5 feet wide, much like rolling up a sleeping bag, and tie the bundle with a strip of shrink wrap. As you are doing this please try to keep the shrinkwrap as clean as possible.

  4. Take the shrink wrap to a participating marina or landfill for recycling. Take care to put ONLY SHRINK WRAP in the collection areas.
