Reap the rewards of this extraordinary resource. Your MTAM membership offers you unparalleled access to industry information, networking prospects, marketing opportunities and much more!
State Lobbying
Representation on marine trades issues before the Maryland legislature, as well as with State and Federal agencies. The MTAM staff and the Association’s lobbyist John Stierhoff introduce and monitor legislative activities. Government officials are kept apprised of the marine industry’s position on various issues prior to the development of laws and regulations. Your membership in MTAM adds to our legislative clout – the size of our membership has direct impact on our legislative representation. Click here for a history of our Legislative Activities.
- Boat Shows
Our members receive discounts on show spaces at the Bay Bridge Boat Show and the Baltimore Boat Show. Often the amount saved is more than the cost of membership.
- The MTAM Website
The MTAM website is designed to guide customers to your business based on the services you provide. A customer looking for a marina in Southern Maryland that has a pool and a boatel can find just that, a customer looking for any place to store a boat in Havre de Grace can find just that, a customer looking to purchase a Cobalt Boat can find the Maryland dealer who sells Cobalts. With links back to your own site, www.mtam.org is guaranteed to increase your business.
- Marine Services Guide
Your firm receives a free category listing in the Annual Guide to Marine Services. Thousands of these books are printed each September and is distributed through Boat Shows, Trade Shows, Maryland Tourism locations and through our member marinas.
- MTAM Fall Business Improvement Conference
The Conference is a day long seminar that features something for everyone. Understand the impact of our industry on the State, learn about what we can do to improve the health of the Chesapeake Bay, learn how the latest national marine industry trend can impact your business. The seminar offers a session that is usable immediately – past topics have included marketing, constructing a contract and dealing with a disgruntled customer. Plus motivation, networking, product demonstrations and good food!
- MTAM Winter Networking Events
Designed for discussion and exchange, these events are said by attendees to be “of more value than we charge in membership”. Last year’s topics were “Premium Reduction Ideas, Loss Prevention Techniques, and Hurricane Preparedness” and “Marine Construction and Financing”.
- Contacts
As a member of MTAM you will not only enjoy communication with other marine business owners but also with legislators, environmental groups, law enforcement, and other state and federal agencies.
- New Business and Referrals
There are endless opportunities for new business and referrals from other MTAM members and from the MTAM offices that field calls from boaters and other members who are seeking what you have to offer.
